Car Clubs - A Great new destination

May we introduce ourselves. Cloverlands Model Car Museum (Charity 1198716), is the largest model car collection in Wales, with 5500 exhibits.

We moved in June 2022, from Montgomery, to new premises, in Llanfair Caereinion, home of The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway, (www.wllr.org.uk ), part of The Great Little Trains of Wales network.

We invite car clubs to consider us as a destination for days out. The museum has an historic display of model cars, based on a collection started in 1954. Eighteen more collections have been added, since we opened in 2014. The first was from our late patron, Miss Gillian Rogers, a member of the Society of Motor Historians. A few car models, themselves, are over a hundred years old. We have a great collection of Formula One and Touring car/rally car models, American, Russian models and military vehicles. See CloverlandsCars Facebook page, with many photographs. This new website is to reflect our move, and general advancement, to become a model collection of national motoring heritage, albeit in miniature. We have a large collection of pictures and motoring images on display. There are many good books and models for sale. We may have a model of your own car!

We featured in the T.V. programme Bargain Hunt, screened on 6 March. Motoring guru, Charlie Ross, was intrigued and impressed by the unique nature of the Cloverlands collection.

Come and see us, enjoy Welsh roads to the coast, amid magnificent scenery. We are situated in the town of Llanfair Caereinion, nine miles from Welshpool, on the A458. Sat Nav. SY21 OSF. What3words will find us too - TRY perfumes.deferring.lonely, we are between the road and the river next to station.

We work with the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, who run nine miles of narrow- gauge track, parallel to the A 458, between Welshpool and Llanfair, along the valley of the glorious River Banwy.

Why not combine a visit, with a train trip from the station to Welshpool and back? You can also board at Welshpool and do the return journey to your car that way. Group rates (for more than ten) available by contacting Llanfair Caereinon 01938 810441, ask for the booking office, or via www.wllr.org.uk

Knowledgeable guides are on hand, to show you our display, and there is ample parking for up to a hundred cars and on-site catering. There is covered eating accommodation, a hundred yards from our museum, for eighty, and an informal spacious, riverside picnic area. Well behaved pets are welcome, in the museum and there is a riverside walk into town. Three excellent pubs. Good disabled access and toilet facilities on site.

We share our spacious premises with the fascinating railway memorabilia museum, for which part, there is FREE entry. We believe car clubs will find our collection memorable: second to none in Wales and the West Midlands. There is a specific charge to view the model car collection of £5 per car, for car clubs, £4 for groups of more than ten cars. Parking is free, except for Gala Weekend-the first weekend in September.
